Movie *****: the film thread (was forum=4)Follow

#1 Nov 01 2006 at 7:03 AM Rating: Default
i am sure that there is a film thread somewhere on here but i couldn't find it. soooo i decided to start a new one.

first question: what movie have you seen more then any other? you know those movies that you can watch over and over again. it doesn't even have to be a good movie there is just somthing about it that sucks you in everytime. and watching the rocky horror picture show for the 100th time doesn't count.

i have two: Return of the King and Valley of the Dolls. everytime these movies are on tv i am compeled to watch. if any of you have seen Valley of the Dolls you will know that it is not a great movie. but i have seen it i don't know how many times. and Return of the King pisses me off b/c it is so long and if i start watching it then i have to see it all the way through. that my friends is called OCD.

second question: what is your all time favorite movie?

i am still pondering this one....

My most watched is probably Aliens. Mostly because it's a good film that I can start watching from about any point and say "Oohh.. this is gonna happen". So it used to get popped in a lot and half-watched as I did other things as well.

As far as solid sitting down and committing myself to watching a movie, I'm not sure. Maybe Red.

No votes for "All Time" -- there's just too many variables.

Why does The Rocky Horror Picture Show not count? It's just invalidated just because you say so? That could be a perfectly legitimate answer.

Also, this ain't the Sandbox, so fUck off.

Aliens is, by far, my most watched. But Jaws, Hunt for Red October and Caddyshack are 3 that, no matter what part they are at, if I come across while channel surfing, I'll watch the rest of them everytime.

As far as all time favorite, I would have to say that I have one for each category (action, sci-fi, comedy, etc), there isn't one that neccesarily stands out above all that I like to claim that prize.

Young Frankenstein is probably the film I've watched the most - I could probably recite each line easily. Blazing Saddles is up there, as well. Also, I will usually tune in to any 60s-era James Bond films playing on tv (with Sean Connery - he so dreamy!). Smiley: inlove

I am on planning to watch the entire extended versions of the LOTR films again...as soon as I can discover which box they were packed in! Smiley: banghead

Mom? Dad?
I'm home, finally!
Scary though for all, eh?

I grew up on YF and Blazzing saddles and can quote both movies word for word, along with Aliens (can't say it's the best of all time, but very VERY close).
My mother still puts Aliens in when she is grading papers damn near every time.

EDIT: Quotez pwnz me

Who moved this thread?

I'm not saying it's not Sandbox material, but did I miss a paragraph outlining the rules of conduct for posting in the Asylum? Generic question threads are only allowed if made by regular posters, or if containing a political message?

How come the Yet Another Music Thread wasn't moved? Or what about the Spooooky! thread?

How come they are okay, but this one isn't? Just curious here.

As for favorite movie I would have to go with The Matrix, I think. It just has that magical combination of sci-fi, thrill, action and beautiful special effects (bullet time!).

Don't worry about it. You didn't understand it then and you don't now.

I'm with Smoggy and Molish here, you just can't beat Mel Brooks movies and Young Frankenstein in particular. I was raised watching YF at least 3 times a week, its my mom's favorite movie to. We can literaly sit there for the entire movie quoting the lines at each other.

Quote:
Inga: Werewolf!
Dr. Frankenstein: Werewolf?
Igor: There.
Dr. Frankenstein: What?
Igor: There, wolf. There, castle.
Dr. Frankenstein: Why are you talking that way.
Igor: I thought you wanted to.
