I didn't make the list, just grabbed it off some website. I'm a non-discriminatory rapper-list-maker.

Not to split hairs or anything, but wouldn't this thread have been more relevant five, ten years ago?

Ok, where are the true rap aficianados?

Hmm....East Coast v.s West Coast. I haven't bought a West Coast rapper's album in like........EVER! I'd rather listen to that gay *** down south **** than Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, Mac 10, Snoop Dogg, or DJ Quik who have all gone stale!

East Coast rap is much much better. Rocafella Records is taking over the industry! Juelz Santana, Young Gunz, Kanye West, and Jay-Z all on the same label and they all are the shiznit. I can't wait for Camron's album! ><

Why isn't Nas, Lost Boyz, and Onyx not up there. There are much better rappers that could be taking space on that East Coast list.

It's a shame that both Jay-Z and DMX are both retiring. :(

And please get Lil Kim and P.Diddy off that list of East Coast rappers. They both really really suck!

The last thing I'm gonna say about this gay crap is that the guy who decided to put Gay-Z's Black Album lyrics over The Beatle's White Album music needs to skinned alive, rolled in salt, bathed in vinegar, then thrown into a fire ant colony. Maybe then he'll think twice before defiling such great masterpieces as The Beatles.

#1. I made this mostly as a joke, notice the points to discuss include "hand gun accuracy" and "pimptasticness"

#2. I didn't the list (god knows I don't know that much about rap), just grabbed it off some website.

#3. The guy that mixed Jay-Z with The Beatles (DJ Danger Mouse) didn't defile ****, it was an experimental record that actually turned out pretty cool (and yes I'm a Beatles fan). If you don't like it, don't listen to it. He didn't ruin all copies of Beatles records, yours are still intact to listen to as you choose.

I could have swore Cypress Hill was East Coast.

And theres like 5 solo members of the Wu-Tang Clan listed under the East Coast, its kinda unfair to the West Coast, there no listing of the seperate member of Pharcyde.

Digital Underground, Tone Loc, MC Hammer, and The SUgar Hill Gang should be taken off the list because they are not, per say, Rap artists.

Anyways, what I know about Rap, I learned from MTV.

BTW: "The Grey Album" by DJ Danger Mouse is freeking awesome.. don't know it until you give it a listen to. I have it on mp3..

I kinda disagree...

Anyhow, I mostly listen to East Coast rappers, with a few exceptions (Dr. Dre, Tupac). Anyhow, here's my "list".

Freestyle Skillz: From the above list, hands down, DMX. His freestyles pre = '98 before he blew up were some of the best. Off the list and record, Canibus is the best of all time in my opinion. He had more of an intellectual side to his raps (most do not know he was goign to school for a degree in Computer Science).

Longevity:
Since DMX and Jay-Z are retiring, I honestly do not believe and of those above rappers will last too long with the exception of Dr. Dre and (in spirit) Biggie and Tupac.
Off the list, I believe that newcomer Kanye West is destined to be a great artist. Also, Nas will always be around I think (if he wants to be...).

Street Cred:
Every last one of them. For something crazy reason, people think just because you become rich and want a better life than staying in the hood all the time, you have sold out, which is just ridiculous and I won't speak about it again...

Album Sales:
Tupac (Best Selling Rapper of all time; yes, more than Eminem and Vanilla Ice)
Biggie
Dr. Dre
Jay-Z
DMX

Influence:
Without a doubt, Biggie, Tupac, Run-DMC, and Dr. Dre. To a sort of lesser degree, Jay-Z and Nas.

Best Martyr:
Tupac...

Hand Gun Accuracy:
Will not even stoop to this level.

Pimptasticness:
Same as above.

Where can I get a copy of this? I have been hearing so much about it and want to listen to it badly...Can you still dowwload it, or was the person that created told he could not distribute it anymore?

You might be able to find a copy on ebay.. but i got mine through other means. He was told not to distribute it anymore, mainly because Paul McCartney or someone like that was suing him over using the unlicensed Beatles samples.

Jay-Z gave him a job though.
