So I only mentioned this in the BDT, but I've been in the hospital since New Year's - went in for intense abdominal pain, had surgery to remove adhesions around my intestines, then the long recovery.
And the surgeon just told me I can go home tomorrow, after I have my first solid meal in a week.
7 days is QUITE long enough.

My understanding from the surgeon is that it's a kind of scar tissue, and one of the more common ways it forms is as a result from prior surgeries. I had a pretty invasive abdominal surgery four years ago (four-inch, vertical incision down my abdomen), which is probably the direct cause of this unfortunate order of events.

Welcome back to the world of the normal - now you can get back to dealing with ice storms, polar vortexes, and broken furnaces along with the rest of the us.
Sorry to hear you're been down. Hope recovery continues to go well.
