I am a computer building newbie, but it's something that I have been thinking about for some time now. I ran across the PC Gamer builders guide a couple of days ago and was wondering what the the community thought about the system it details and what could be improved on. For example, they only suggest one video card but state that you should be able to add a second later, however budget wise I have the money to add it now, but I'm not sure that it's really something that I would need/notice... but I really don't know enough to say either way. So in addition to wondering how happy I'm going to be with the parts list, I'd like to know where I can go to start correcting my over all hardware ignorance.
Case: NZXT Phantom
CPU: Intel Core i7-2600K 3.4 GHZ
Motherboard: Asus p8p67
RAM: Corsair XMS 8GB DDR3 (do I want to just double this on the principal that more ram is better, or is that a waste of money for a non power user?
Videocard: Asus GeForce ENGTX570
Optical Drive: The recommended one in particular but at twenty bucks does brand really matter here?
Hard Drive: Western Digital Caviar black 2TB (I'm still trying to wrap my head aroudn 2 terrabytes of storage space, my curren hard drive only has about 228 gigs worth of stuff on it)
CPU cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus
Power Supply: Corsair CMPSU-850TX
Right now I'm at least two generations behind computing wise, which is okay for running WoW, but I'd like to try Civ 5 and Shogun Total War 2.
