Hi folks, namely those of you who don't visit the Warcraft section.
I currently have a Logitech G5 mouse which I have unfortunately worn out (it will track erratically and always at the most inopportune times, despite being clean and on a proper mouse pad - an Xtrac Ripper). I'll be looking to replace it soon with something similar.
As to what I actually do on my computer, I of course play Warcraft, but also play World of Tanks, the occasional FPS and possibly quite soon League of Legends. I also do work in Photoshop and Premiere on occasion and the features of a "gaming" mouse like the G5 do come in handy (a tablet as well, but that's a different argument).
I have my eye on the Logitech G500, the Saitek RAT 7 (possibly the RAT 9 when it comes out, but my current G5 may drive me insane before then) or the Razor Mamba. I'm looking for others to consider as I know those aren't the only three mid to high-end wired gaming mice on the market.
As for features, I would like:
• Laser tracking
• On-the-fly DPI switching
• 5 buttons or more (not including those for on-the-fly DPI), but not as many as what's on the Razer Naga. I never used all the keys on my G11, hence why I have a 3rd gen G15.
• Wired is heavily preferred. Wireless is OK if it can also be used wired and uses AA or AAA batteries - the G700 is such a mouse, but it is a bit too much for what I'm currently willing to spend. I'm not too sure on the extra two thumb buttons on it myself; the three next to the left button look useful though. I may have to find one at Fry's or Best Buy and try it out.
As for size, I have fairly large hands. The G5 measures roughly 5" long, 2 5/8" wide and 1 3/4" tall at it's highest point. The G5 fits my hand well without being too big or too small. It is also not too heavy or too light, even with the maximum supplied weight in it. I typically "palm" the mouse which is why I have never considered the G9 or similar style mice.
Budget: Currently I don't want to spend much over $80 with tax and shipping, if I buy online. This may increase if my finances settle down a bit this month.
Side note: I typically shop online from Newegg (I typically get my stuff the next business afternoon from them). They are currently out of stock on the RAT 7. I would rather avoid going to Fry's or Best Buy, but if two gallons of gas, a few more gray hairs and a couple hours saves me $10 or so, I'll do it.
