Command and Conquer 4: Black/Blank Screen Crashing Follow

Originally I'd been having problems getting past the "Play" part of the launcher, however I followed some advice about reducing my screen resolution and I got to start my first campaign.

I got to the frst briefing, and I got another crash.

During these crashes I can't alt tab, open the task manager by using ctrl alt del, or interact with the PC in anyway, only reboot it by turning it off via the power button

PC specs:

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5 CPU 750 @ 2.67GHz (4 CPUs), ~2.7GHz
4Gb Ram
ATI Radeon HD 5700 series
Direct X 11

Any help would be superb
