FFXI crashes when I zone.Follow

Been playing FFXI for a couple weeks, with no problems, but the last couple days, when I try to move into a different area (say from Ronfaure forest to San d'Oria) instead of the loading screen, it just goes black and freezes up. The music quits. I can Ctrl-Alt-Delete but once I get to the Task manager it freezes again and I have to reset.
I'm not too savvy with computers, but I can tell you I have Windows 7 with the newest nvidia
video driver. One interesting thing to note is that when I log in again I'm at the next area, so technically I could play if I wanted to restart every time I change areas. :P

Well the other night I did a file check and it said nothing was wrong. Then the game started working. I played for about an hour without any problems. This morning I went to play again and the same damn zoning issue came back. I ran another file check and it said nothing was wrong, but it still won't play. I asked another player about it and he just said it was "common among PC users." Is there any remedy to this, or do I just quit?

Interesting. I wouldn't have thought that was the issue. I will see what I can do. Thank you so much.
