Getting around the POL - 0250 ErrorFollow

#1 Jun 24 2009 at 7:32 AM Rating: Good
I keep getting the POL - 0250 Error whenever I log in.

Through trial and error I finally found out where the problem is: it's the built in firewall in my router.

I'm no good with routers so I was wondering if anyone could help me out.

I have a Linksys router and what I want to do is find a way to make an exception for the FFXI files without actually turning off the firewall.

Can this be done or is the only way to actually turn the firewall in the router completely off?

If I can get any help or advice on where I could get help that would be great. Thank you.

I'm sure it will involve port forwarding. Taken from the FFXI Troubleshooting FAQ, which oddly enough is about 3 posts up from yours.

Quote:
Make sure the following ports are open on your router/firewall:
-TCP 25, 80, 110, 443 or 50000 - 65535
-UDP 50000 - 65535
