Omega drivers are "hacked" 3rd party drivers. Draw your own conclusions based on that phrase right there.
I "hack" third party code at least once a month. Rarely does it perform less reliably than the OEM version. In fact, if I'm bothering to do it or someone is paying me to, there's probably something wrong with the OEM version.
What with ATI's drivers having a long history of being absolute ****, I'd be inclined to take their advice on what to do when their chipset validation fails. The whole point of the validation is to prevent the drivers from being used with hardware that has known issues. Why you'd want to override that and install the same drivers ATI is essentially explicitly telling you will fail or not function properly escapes me. Because the file has "catalyst" in the name?
I didn't follow your link, but is the package even stripped of the validation check?
