possible trojan problem Follow

Recently had a problem with an online game where the launcher somehow corrupted and I had to re-install it. Since then I have noticed when I launch Firefox or other net bound programs I seem to get a zonealarm popup telling me and I quote "The firewall has blocked internet access to 212.139.132.38 (DNS) from your computer" program: generic host process for win32 services.

Seeing how I have noted some problems lately with account theft it is rather worrying, I did a search with AVG and came up empty. Anyone have any idea what this could be and what I can do to check it if its anything to worry about?

Have you ran adware or spybot?

You could also run a hijackthis and post the log for someone to look at.

I have two answers for you, the reality and the easy one:

The reality is you should re-install windows, delete zonealarm because it's useless junk, delete AVG because it's also useless junk, update to SP3, bite the bullet and pay $40 or whatever it is for a good disk imaging program like Arconis and image the clean install. Then when **** like this happens, you can just back up the data and re-image the drive. Hey presto, never worry about this sort of thing again.

The easy answer is to post a HijackThis log and I can 99% fix this individual error. The chances you won't end up with something simmilar eventually anyway are small, though.

Why pay for it when you can torrent it?

Because torrenting a software thats supposed to help your computer is not a good idea?

When you fix something you pay for your tools or use free ones made available, but you dont say I got if off piratebay, itll work, but who knows what could have been slipped inside?

And 40$ Isnt much money for what it does.

Find freeware or pay, thats kind of simple.

Gimp isnt photoshop, but its pretty nice. ABIword isnt Word, but it does the job more than fine.

Well, mainly because were I going to hide malicious code in something and wanted it to be persistent, disk imaging software would be a pretty spiffy choice.

That and it's wrong, of course. Wrong!!

Correct Gimp and ABIword arent their main stream products, but who the **** wants some gimpy *** program when they can get the real deal for free!! Granted their are occasions where u need a word processor now and dont have the time to torrent office or what ever, but still.

DOWNLOADING IS BAD RUNAWAY!!!!!

I prefer Abiword to Word by a large margin for nearly everything. I'm sure there's probably some arcane thing I'd need Word for, and I obviously have a copy of it, but for actual writing, it's just bloated and cumbersome.

Only reason I use Office 2k7 is because I got cracked copy from torrent. That and because it pisses my teacher offs when they cant open because they dont have the patch for 2k or 2k3.

The only times I use openoffice is in emergency situations where I need to get a temp fix. Is ABIword that good? I never tried it before.

Well, it's just a word processor. For me "good" in a WP is: well laid out, can do everything I need to do, doesn't look like a ******* PBS kids cartoon.

So yeah, for me, it's that good.
