Video Card settings helpFollow

Hello and thanks in advance for your help
I need help with getting my settings right for my new nvidia 8600gt 512mb card
For starters I have a Dell 510 pentium d 2.8ghz with XP & 3gb ram. I just recently changed to a 500w power supply and the new video card; my old video card was an ATI 128mb from when i bought it from dell >2yrs ago.
I turn off all backgroung activities when I log on to FFXI. After I changed to the 8600 the performace and quality is horible. All my edges are jagged and I lag even worse than before. I have tried just about all differnet settings under nvidia control panel with little resolve.
I know it is not a dual or quad core and the video card is not the newest, but the preformance is sooo much worse than before and one would think it would blow my old setup out of the water.
I have uninstalled my old card and it's drivers and checked to make use my new one is recognized.
I have looked at some of the other treads, but I do not know the shortcuts for checking fps or changing settings for FFXI except ingame.
I would appreciate any help and time anyone is willing to give me, and again thank you.

omfg such a simple answer, i cannot believe i didnt see that before. I reinstalled my videocard and redownloaded the updadted drivers without any improvment. Then went to ffxi config and now i have an insanly beutiful game to play. It amazing how changing a couple size setings changed everything.
