ATIKMDAG error problem. Anyone know a solution?Follow

#1 Jun 25 2008 at 7:24 AM Rating: Decent
Hello everyone. Everytime i attempt to boot up a game i get the error message containing "ATIKMDAG has stopped responding but has successfully recovered". At 1st i assumed it was a RAM problem as i checked what ATI had to say on this problem and one of there reasons was RAM (It specifically said Memory) but today i updated my 1 Gig of RAM to 2 Gig. I have also recently updated my Graphics Card from one built into my Motherboard to a Raedeon HD 3450, 256 MB DDR2 Memory. I have also tried a Registry Mechanic program but that was lousy due to saying "Free scan" but meaning "Free scan but you have to buy to remove crap".

Has anyone else had this problem? If you have how did you get rid of the problem of this? I'm at my witts end now and i dont know what else to attempt so im pleading on here for help.

My computer is as follows if this will help you guys on out

80 Gig HDD, Raedon HD 3450 256MB, Adata 1GB DDR2 667 CL5.0 16 Chip x2, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS, AMD Athlon 64 x2 Dual Core Processor 3600+ 2.18 GHZ.

Thanks to anyone who has a better knowledge on PC's than I. I have tried several of the things which people have reccomended but it has just failed.

Apparently other people have had this problem, though not me. What else to attempt? Google is the answer.

This forum post is just the first article I found and it's got a solution.

Why are you running 64 bit Vista???????

Thats the big problem right there. Your computer probably would run a lot better on Vista 32. Vista 64 and 64 bit OS in general are a pain, drivers suck to find and everything is written for 32 base.

Drop to 32 bit and that might fix your problem.
