Hi, I am currently on a Vista laptop (yes yes, in before lolVista), running FFXI on the unofficial windower, and when ever I load up Fraps and try to record, I get POL crashing on me =/

Now this only happens on the unofficial windower, have not tried the normal windowed mode, but fullscreen works fine with fraps.

So has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks in advance

Sounds like an issue with your windower version. Have you tried updating it or uninstaling and reinstalling it.

Also it could be a plug-in with the windower that is causing your fraps problem. I doubt it is a vista problem.

Hmm...

You know, I can't get the unofficial windower to run for me either, on either Vista 32 bit or 64 bit Ultimate edition. I do have fraps running, I wonder if that's why...

I'll have to check now.

Disabling all plugins didn't work for me either, when I get home tonight I'll give it a shot and see if it's fraps causing the crash.

Bah windower still doesn't work for me in vista. Do you happen to have Aero enabled? Maybe that's why it's crashing on me.

Aero should be causing any problem, its just physical change, should effect other programs. Maybe update fraps?

I had the most current version of fraps and the windower.

Turning Aero off made the windower work for my 32-bit version of Vista Ultimate.

The 64-bit version doesn't work with or without Aero. I found a 64-bit launcher but it just throws an error about the Windower.ini file, which I don't have and doesn't seem to be required anymore.

I'm tempted to look into writing my own hook in .NET so it's somewhat supported, but I doubt there are the tools there to do that and it's not like I have the time.

Well I dont know man. The only thing I can say is that XP64 and Vista 64 are both kinda crappy. Not many people use it so its a pain to get stuff to work really if it doesnt work from the get go.

The only other thing I can think of is that the unofficial windower is not 64 bit vista compatible and that is what it causing you problems. Maybe fraps isn't support either.
