I just came back after a long hiatus and re-installed FFXI. However, when I play I cannot get 5.1 sound to work. I can get 5.1 in every other game or media software, but not on FFXI.

I could of sworn I had 5.1 working the last time I played, but maybe I'm mistaken. Does the PC version of FFXI even support 5.1, or is it just stereo?

I've got an X-fi platinum if that helps any. Latest drivers and patches for it and windows, and everything is set to 5.1.

I'm not familiar with FF *at all* so this is an admitted shot in the dark:

Try disabling hardware acceleration. That card chokes on some games at the hardware accel level. Often, disabling acceleration will remedy it.
