Okay, I over-upgraded with my Radeon HD 2600 and now I've discovered that I can't run the second output to a coax converter like I thought I could. I've been debating what I could do that would cost less than an HDTV (since we don't want to buy a new TV until August when we move) and these are the options I've narrowed down:
- Suck it up and buy the smallest, cheapest HDTV around
- Find one of these mythical $40 digital to analog converters for our TV since the government will rebate us exactly that much (found one for like $180 so far.)
- Take advantage of the CrossFire capabilities of the Radeon HD 2600 and drop in a second video card!
Knowing me, any excuse to upgrade the computer is a valid one. But I'm limited by only having one PCIe x 16 slot. I have one PCIex1 slot and one regular old PCI slot left. Can I do this? Here are the specs on the box:
- Base box: HP Pavilion a6114x
- Downgraded to Windows XP
- AMD Athlon Dual Core 4000+ (2.1 GHz)
- Maxed out 4 gigabytes memory
- Onboard NVidia graphics(disabled)
- Radeon HD 2600 Pro
Requirements for the second card:
- Must be Radeon for CrossFire to work
- Preferably coax out
- If not coax, need composite out
Suggestions? Or. . . should I just wait until August and buy an HDTV then like I originally wanted?
