First and foremost, this has nothing to do with any game. I am posting here because it is the Tech Support Forum and I am totally at a loss at this point.

Recently acquired a DVD of when my husband and I got engaged, and I would like to combine it with our wedding ceremony video. The engagement is in a .vob format and I have tried everything to convert that damned thing.

Everything:
(lol)Windows Movie Maker
Chopper XP
VOB2MPG
Blaze Media Pro
MagicDVDRipper
even tried changing extension from .vob to .mpeg and .mpg (fyi it didn't work)

The DVD folder contains the following:
VIDEO_TS.BUP <~ no idea what this is
VIDEO_TS.IFO <~ no idea what this is either
VIDEO_TS.VOB <~ that's the video!!!!

All I want to do is just cut out the engagement from the 6 chapters that exist on the disc. I don't want to do anything fancy. I just want to be able to convert it into a format that is easily worked with.

Anyone have any idea? Any other programs that aren't openly advertised via Google that I can download? (Something that is free? Freeware and shareware are fine, as long as I can just fix this one thing)

Thank you in advance.

edit: had misspelling in title

I will do the best I can, however I will make it clear upfront that I do all my editing and ripping on a Mac so software suggestions I am short on.

You basically need to take the VIDEO_TS folder and convert that entire thing into a container or your file format you like best such as .avi or .mpg. On Mac you can use something like Handbrake (does have a windows version) to take your source information Your VIDEO_TS folder and make it into what you want.

You may see a VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folder, the AUDIO_TS does nothing it's just a required folder for players.

The VIDEO_IFO usually are your menus while the _BUP I honestly don't remember.

Try Handbrake and see if that does what you want ^^ it's a very good application.

Forgot here is the URL

I use mencoder on linux for all my encoding and converting. There is also a windows version, but afaik it is command line only. So if you aren't afraid of a little typing, go for it.

Have you tried VirtualDub yet? That's the one I use and I have a really good success rate with it.
