Bad connection problems.Follow

For the past 3 days, my interwebz connection has been EXTREMELY slow. Whenever I do a speedtest online, it says im in the 1300-1600 kbps range, when i have a 4mb connection subscription. Games are simply unplayable if they have anything to do with online. Whenever I log to WoW, I have a latency of over 4000ms.

I obviously called my ISP, and they said that "Everything is fine, your connection is perfect". I told them there was NO WAY that could be possible, my connection wa s extremely slow, to the point where the only thing I can do is use firefox for normal internet viewing. They told me to send a series of screenshots with the results of a lot of tests they made me do, tracert/ping/speedtest etc. When I was doing all of them I could see there was an obvious problem, because all of the tests came back with really bad results, ping and tracert giving ms of over 600.

That was yesterday. They called me a few hours later after I sent the e-mail, telling me if I could talk to them about the issue, I was going out to the movies, so I told them to call later.

Well they didnt call, and they havent called yet.

I called them and the lady told me there was no registry of the woman ever calling me. She told me to do the usual tests again, and TELL her the results. I told her the results, and the conversation went like this:

Woman:(after a few seconds of guilty silence) "Uhhhh... yeah that seems... fine... well unfortunately now there are no technicians available, sorry sir, you will have to send an e-mail with the information you told me, and a bit more, to this email <e-mail>".

Me: But I already sent th-

Woman: Is there anything else I can help you with?

Me: Yes! I already sent those tests and-

Woman: Have a good afternoon sir! (Hangs up)

So now apparently I have to wait untill monday to get a response, and HOPEFULLY get my connection fixed. so 5 days of my 2 weeks off school just got screwed because of a crappy ISP.

The wierd thing is, my internet browsing is not slow, at all. All web pages load insanely fast (as they usually do), but downloads are always at 7-20 kbps (when they used to be at 380-450), but games are unplayably slow.

So now you probably will say "Well then tell your ISP to go ***** themselves and get another one!". The thing is, I have already thought about it, but living in Mexico, technology-wise (and also government-wise) we are screwed, extremely screwed. And the ISP I have right now is the fastest over here, with 4mbps, the second one having 2mbps. It fails quite a bit (bout once each month), but when it does, it fails HORRIBLY like the problem I just described, whereas my friend (who has the 2mb ISP) has told me, in 10 years, it has NEVER failed, even while raining.

So now my question is this:
If I go with the 2mb ISP (wich never fails, and apparently has MUCH better tech support), Will I see any significant differences in gaming and downloading?

Not talking about few differences, but stuff that would really make me repent doing it. I wouldnt mind 250 kbps download speeds and 20-30ms higher pings in games, if it meant it never failed.

I would also like (before and If changing ISP's) to know if any of you guys good at internet and tech support could help me do something, to see if I could fix it with your help, because I think I will die of boringness without decent speed internet.

tl;dr = I need to know if I would see big differences from a 4mb to a 2mb connection, and I would like help fixing my current connection. Please Alla, make my day. Smiley: frown
