Mic picking up sound from headset - VentFollow

Started using Ventrilo not to long ago. One thing that bugs me is that whenever I talk (hit hotkey) and someone else starts talking my mic picks up the voice from my headsets. Other than buying a new sound prove headset (I have bought 2 already and dont want to spend more since I dont use vent that much) is there a way to fix this? Perhaps lowering the mic sensitivity somehow? Thx

Right click -> View -> Record/Playback will let you test/set the mic volume.

That's strange, it shouldn't happen with a headset. Do you have it turned up really loud or something?

It will almost always happen if you're using speakers though.

In vent's settings window, you can easily adjust and test your input and output volumes. Make sure the correct recording device is selected also.

All my sound settings are default if that makes a differce. I did the test under settings, everything sounded ok. I tried testing this by opening sound recorder on windows and recording with some music playing softy in the background. I turned off the music and played back the recording and could clearly hear both my voice and the music playing, nearly at the same volume it was playing. I also tried an older mic, same thing happened.
Does vent have a way to cut off sound when pressing the hotkey to speak or atleast lower the volume? Maybe its just something normal after all :(.

Ok I think I figured this out. Created a bind that when toggled with mute anyone for me when I am talking. Should solve the issue I hope, gona try this later. Thx for the help.

Ok well the mic is picking my headphones such as background music. Bind did not seem to work when I tried it either. :( I am going to try instaling a sound card I have been meaning to put in. Idk if that will help but ill reply if it does.
