Direct X question: replacing version 10 with an older one.Follow

#1 Feb 02 2008 at 2:14 AM Rating: Decent
Bought a new computer and it came with Vista and also DirectX 10. Apparently, EQII isn't really compatible as yet, after three weeks of playing my computer now refuses to run it and crashes (APPCRASH error on the exe file).

After two weeks of contacting the support, about the only suggestion I haven't followed (all drivers have been updated, or at least my computer says it can't find any better ones, I've completely reinstalled the game) is to replace my directX 10 with the lower version directX 9.0C.

Is this advisable? Will that version of directX even run on Vista? (as it isn't added to the list of supported OS at the downloadpage from Microsoft) Can I revert easily afterwards?

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I haven't seen anything where it is possible to 'rollback' a version of DirectX that is made for that OS. I would try googling EQ2 and Vista and see if you get any results/fixes. You could also try running it in 'windows xp compatibility mode' to see if that helps.
