Switching ps2 HDD to new ps2 :: Free Realms

So all my FFXI stuff is set up on my current HDD on my very broken ps2, i have a back up ps2 with a HDD slot but when i stick it in the back up ps2 it won't go to playonline or run ffxi despite it already being on the HDD, anyone know why it's being fussy? O__o

I've never heard of a case where someone has successfully moved a ps2 hdd from one machine to another.
I think I even read in my install documentation when I had a ps2+hdd that once I physically inserted the drive, it was 'locked' to that machine.

This might be late, but I did a switch myself recently and you have to reformat and re-install FFXI from scratch. If you can log in somewhere else and save macro/settings, its helpful. I did so on my 360.
