I know how to google, but I don't know who to trust insfoar as a non-infected windows XP cd download.
Long story short- I got hit with that FFXIAH bug last week, and during the infection/cleaning process, that PC was rendered non-usable. So, When i went to reformat and reinstall, I cannot find the disk. So, my next idea is to burn an install disk from the g/f's laptop, and go from there.
So, what would you guys recommend?

I would recommend not, since that's a no no (software piracy and all that).
If you can't find your disk you have two or three choices legally that I can think of off the top of my head. Call MS and see what your options are, buy another copy, tear your house up til you find it. Getting a "downloaded copy" is not only illegal and not suitable for discussion here but bound to bring with it lot of friends you probably don't want.

You can also ask a friend for his CD if you still have your CD keys. If you both have the same versions of Win XP (like Win XP SP1 Family edition) tyhen your CD keys should work on it.
Theres a good reason to always copy your cd-key in a separate location then your CDs along with a copy of the proof of purchase

shykre's method also works with different SPs ... I, for example, have a copy of the original WinXP Home disc... somewhere around here. dunno where. Anyways, it got scratched all to hell, so i borrowed a friend's copy (which was Home SP2), and, to my surprise, it worked. I now have 2 copies of that Home SP2 CD.
Nobody around me has a copy, I do have my CD keys though.

MS will send you new discs so will your computer manufacturer.
Manufacturers sometimes put a windows cd image on your harddrive for you. most commonaly its the ones that don't send reinstallation discs. The image will be in a folder titled I386. Mine is located on the root of my C: drive. Once you locate the folder navigate to a file called winnt32.exe that is the launcher.
Now this is to reinstall the OS on the local machine but i don't see why you can't copy the I386 directory to a CD and then install it on your computer.
just to note, you may have to create an .iso file and install from it.

I put this thing together 3-4 years ago myself- there is no other manufacturer :)
I was suggesting that you get the image from your girlfriends laptop...
