FF7(PC version) install errorFollow

So a few weeks ago I installed FF7 on my PC. No problems. Began playing, again no problems.

I went to play today and AVG(7.5 free edition) flagged ff7.exe as a potential virus. Just in case something got into that folder, I let AVG do the cleanup which resulted in moving ff7.exe to the vault.

I tried to reinstall. When the installation starts, AVG again flags ff7.exe has a virus, this time it is the ff7.exe file on the install cd.

I completely remove ff7 from my system, reboot, close down all avg processes running. Try to install ff7 again and get "An error occurred during the move data process: -113" and then install crashes.

I'm running XP Pro SP2 and as I said before, the game installed without a problem a couple weeks ago.

Any ideas?

Never been a big fan of free anti-virus personally. Is there a way to make AVG ignore ff7.exe as a virus?

I can tell the virus to ignore it, but the -113 error still occurs. I have even closed all avg related processes down and tried to install and the -113 error still occurs.

I am not sure if Final Fantasy VII has it's own error codes however I know that an error of -113 is a media error and or drive error.

You usually get a -113 when either your physical cd-rom/dvd-rom is dirty, dead, or on it's way to dieing.

If not, I am not sure. I tried looking up the manufacturing codes for it however was unable to find anything.

I would to be safe inspect the physical CD and also the drive to make sure there is no obstructions, then also if you feel brave go thru your registry and make sure the uninstaller actually got everything.

Outside of that, I am not sure short of uninstalling AVG and FF7 again and starting over with FF7 first.

Haven't had a chance to mess with it much. I don't think it is a cd-rom issue. Every other cd I use works fine. There is also nothing about the error in event viewer. I've had AVG completely shut down and the -113 error still occurs. The virus message only appears if avg is running. It may be the cd itself, it is pretty old(bought in 1999 I think).

I'll play around with it some more.

I'm experiencing the same problem with the game and AVG, i have searched all over the internet, finding no solutions. Did you manage to fix it? And if so, how?

I got the problem fixed at last by deleting all final fantasy related files in registry editor and removing all files in virus vault in avg, and then finally deleting avg.
