I installed and (eventually) patched FFXI today, when I started playing it though I noticed some strange graphical things. All of the blue boxes such as menus and chat etc have little blackish lines running horizontally accross them, as well as that the green connection arrows in the top right hand corner as well as the cursor have a strange flickering to them.
Any advice on what the cause could be and a solution would be greatly appreciated.

I'm also having the same problem with FFXI. I has been doing it since i have had this PC with Vista. I have tried most things and now i have turned my FireWall to see if that would affect it somehow but now i have "Unable to start FFXI BEcause BETA test is installed please install the retail version" Though mine was brought from a computer game shop on the high street. I have tried losing the WallBlocker. What is wrong?
Have you tried changing the version of video drivers you are using?
Most recent? A few versions old?
This sounds like to me a video card issue much like that of the 8800 Nvidia series where it white's out all the buttons and such.
Pretty much what is says, that you have a BETA version which is pretty hard to believe. I would uninstall and reinstall it again and also make sure you have a retail version! You will know just by how the disc's looks as if memory serves me correct the labels they used on those are printed on with a texture and not a smooth label.
