Running a Game W/O the CDFollow

Just to let you know, i have bought the CD, legally.

The thing is, i want to be able to play this one game w/o having to put in a cd, it's kind of a hassle, and i think it would be better by just doing it with it installed on a flash drive, because it's so versatile (it's also nice because if i lose either the cd or the flashdrive, i'll still have the other one). I tried to look it up but only found something for macs, i use windows, just to let you know. If you can offer any help that would be great.

Usually, what I do for games like that is copy the data directories from the CD to the location on the hard drive the game is installed to then modify the game.ini file (if there is one) so it looks at the hard drive instead of the CD-ROM. What game are you referring to? I can probably give you some direction on how to do this.

Starcraft: Brood War

Ok for Brood Wars, what you will probably need to do is use something like alcohol 120% or Daemon tools to create an image of the CD(s) then mount it. Once you do that, run the install for it from the mounted image and the game will see the mounted image as the "real CD" as opposed to having to put the CD in every time.

Try this and let me know how it works.

As WordaenSoulmender suggested daemon tools will work. You must downlaod and install daemon tools and then burn a copy of your broodwar cd onto your hard drive.

You can also replace the .exe file with a no cd "hack" version, easily found on google.

Aye, I didn't want to suggest the "no-CD" thing cause I wasn't sure what the rules are here in that regard but that is also an option. Good call bud.
