BC makes me crashFollow

#1 Feb 07 2007 at 2:58 PM Rating: Decent
I've been playing WoW for a while now with no problems. I just recently purchased The Burning Crusade expansion pack, and all of a sudden it all fell apart. My computer reboots for no apparent reason after playing for less than a minute. I turned off auto restart, and now my computer just crashes and displays a blank blue screen. I ran the WoW repair utility and it found no errors. There are no errors in my error folder. But, I was able to find an error message in my logs folder. Within the text document "FrameXML" are lines of text that read

"2/6 15:12:34.734 Error loading WTF\Account\NICK4591\SavedVariables.lua
2/6 15:12:34.734 Error loading WTF\Account\NICK4591\Dentarg\Hardworker\SavedVariables.lua"

Other than this, there seems to be no evidence of any errors. I updated both my sound and video card drivers, and removed the side of my case and placed a box fan next to it to blow cool air directly into the computer. None of this worked. So I know my drivers aren't the problem, and it's not a general heat build up. It shouldn't be a hardware issue, because WoW seemed to run fine before I installed BC. Does anyone have any idea of why installing BC would cause my computer to crash every time while playing, or any idea of how to fix this?

Thanks for your time

Nick

The BC content uses advanced shadermodels that some of the older video cards won't support. What model of card do you have?

I have a Radeon 9550 256mb. So yeah, my card is probably too old. How would this cause the failure to load savedvariables.lua?? Should I just ignore that error message?

Do you use any add-ons?

did you try deleting the wtf folder?

if that didn't work, did you try running the World of Warcraft Repair tool? (if you have a pc it should be in your WoW group of programs on your start menu.

If that doesn't fix it, you might have to try a reinstall.

If that doesn't work...good luck?
