PLay Online Viewer, Starting FFXIFollow

#1 Jan 24 2007 at 10:02 PM Rating: Decent
When i press "Play" on the FFXI disclaimer about friends and family, it starts to start FFXI, then tells me "PlayOnline Viewer has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." And closes.

Help? <_<

Do a Check Files option on the Playonline viewer to verify that your not missing anything. Worst case scenario just uninstall the viewer (NOT FFXI!) and reinstall it. Usually the Viewer runs into issues, much like how mine is only allowing me to open it once per computer boot. . . still haven't figured mine out after a Windows XP re-install, 4 Playonline calls, 6 installs of viewer and FFXI >.>

I tried uninstalling everything, and it's still giving me an error...

I also checked the files.

Have you tried different video drivers? If you are on a PC it could be closing because your video drivers are not "playing nice" with the game. FFXI is really stupid about video card drivers so you may need to go with older ones to get it to work correctly.

How would I do that? Everything was working fine until earlier today. And also, it won't let me open config. i get an application error.

Has nothing to do with your config these are your actual video drivers. You will have to remove them via the control panel. You need to know what type of Video card you have before you can start looking for drivers. This can be found either on the card itself or you can also get a general description thru the device manager.

Once you have the card's model and also the manufacturer you can visit their website to download the other available driver or try updating to the newest set.
