Hi, I have been searching everywhere on how to fix my problem. I have recently installed the game and cannot access the main menu, I assume that I need to change my keyboard setting from normal to compact but cannot get to the main menu to do so. When I press ~ it just chats, even when I press ctrl or alt. I have no way to move my character other than the mouse. This is very frustrating, I have read the manual and have been searching for an answer for hours. Help would be greatly appreciated.
So, your keyboard works fine, except in the game, but your mouse works in wow? I am not sure exactly what you mean, but if I took a wild guess, you might need to update your driver... but then again, Im not getting the whole picture.
This is in FFXI. I need to switch from normal PC keyboard to compact keyboard in the main menu but cannot access it. In order to access the main menu I have to press the ~ button on the number keypad which is not on my laptop. I have been trying to figure this out for days and can't move either.
Simple.. plug in an external keyboard to the laptop. This should allow you to hit the tilda (~) key then exit/restart with the external detached. If, for some reason, this doesn't work, you'll find a tilda key may require a combo of keys pressed to create it. Quote your lappy make and model, shouldn't be hard to work out.
I have a Dell inspiron 1505 about 1 month old, dual core. I do have a keyboard for my junker of a desktop but the only plugs on the laptop are usb. Thanks so much for the reply. I have had the game installed since thursday and have not been able to play.
Ok, so I went to radio shack and bought a PS2 to usb adapter and plugged in my desktop keyboard and was able to get to the menu by pressing the - button on the number pad. I was then able to switch to a compact keyboard and I am now in business. Thanks for all of the help. Now to figure out how to play...
