Final Fantasy 11; Command buttons are whited outFollow

So I just went through the horrendously unbearable two hour process of installing the game, and I must say the game looks beautiful when you tweak the resolution. However, all of the interface buttons on my screen are completely whited out! I cant see any text on the buttons at all. It's not my monitor, because I swapped out my benq for my old dell crt display and the same problem occurred. I highly doubt its my video card, because it's the new geforce 8800 gtx. I've never had this problem with any other game.

The picture is horridly small, but you can hopefully make out the completely whited out top right command list. When I first start up final fantasy, the "create a character" button is normal, whereas the choose a character, log out, and the other button are completely whited out. I tried adjusting the overlay graphics resolution, no luck. This is a pretty bad problem to have considering I have to read the help ticker to even know what button my mouse is on. Thanks!

I got one of these video cards with my new system
This is appearently a consistant problem accross the board with FFXI and GeForce 8800 series video cards.
Nvidia says Square-Enix needs to fix it in an update. Square-Enix says Nvidia needs to fix it with a new driver.
IN THE MEANTIME, this is the only thing I found that will fix it:

The file \PlayOnline\SquareEnix\FINAL FANTASY XI\ROM\119\51.DAT contains the data for the buttons and fonts and such.
If you switch it out with the one in the link, it works fine.
