I have a Linksys Router, and I've never had any issue. I just set all network settings to "detects automatically" and it's fine.

if you have a router and its hooked to pc and ps2 (as mine is) then the settings should be in the router, and ps2/pc should be set to "detect automatically"

You change it on your PS2 with your NA disk. If you don't have your disk then you should have rtfm.

Have you tried Rebooting yout router? I have to do that to mine at times. Simply unplug your routers power, let it sit unplugged 30-60 seconds and plug it back in. The PS2 need to be connected to the router when you do this.

One thing you didn't mention if this is a wired or wireless connection. At any rate. you may need to use your router setup utility to make sure all the needed ports are being passed through to your PS2. I haven't had to do this with my Linksys, but you may need to.
