I am in the process of upgrading my comp, and want to run a intake and exhuast fans. My problem is that my out of date mother board only has one 3 prong plug for a cooling fan, could I splice the other fan into the exsiting wires of the stock cooling fan or could I buy an adaptor for the 4 prong from my hardrive/power supply to a 3 prong that fits the fan. Mind you that my other fan that I wanna use is a 120mm fan (this would be my intake fan and I would have to cut a hole in my case). Help would be nice.
Doesn't the fan you want to install just plug in to the 12v rail?
/nods and pretends to know what you are talking about. My heat sink and my cooling fan plug directly into my mother board and it is out of date still running socket 754 and AGP type stuff so I am not sure. I can take it apart and put it back together that is about it.
The intake and exhaust fans probably won't plug into your motherboard. You know the molex connectors that are used to supply power to your CD drive, HDD, and possibly FX card? Most fans now use that same type of connector so you really wouldn't need to splice any thing or anything drastic like that.

Fan I have maybey I should have actually looked at the hardware it came with if I cand find it. Thanks for the help
