What is POL-1156? Something I need to change? Trying to download latest update. Any help will receive thanks.

Didn't see this error mess. under the sticky. I am recieving this error mess. as I start to download FFXI update files, right after "Preparing for Update."

update complete.

Now it's a error message about my TnL. States "Terminated as Error occurred in Final Fantasy XI. Failed to recognize Hardware TnL. Please Check that this computer has the required specifications to run Final Fantasy XI. (-1)"

My question is, My PC has what it takes to play, I'v been playing for years. But now all of a sudden after my PC is returned to me after a Best Buy Service, I can't log past PoL into FFXI game. I'm getting this error message, which is obviously stating my system is to weak. Could the guys at Best Buy messed up somthing inside my PC? I had to take it back once already because of a faulty ribbion. Thank you to any help that arrives.

Hardware TnL is "Transform and Lightning" - without the use of more CPU power. Did Best Buy rollback your graphics drivers by chance? Since you have ran FFXI before, make sure your drivers are upgraded to the latest version.

(I am unsure of your video card, but if you will post it, I'll give you a link to the latest drivers.)

Not sure if they rolled it back. How do I find out what type of Video Card I am using in this PC?

Thanks for the info. thus far. ^^

Yeah:

Right-click My Computer, select Properties. Click the Hardware tab and then press the Device Manager button. When that loads up, look under Display Adapters and tell me what it says.

Ok, I think I followed your directions right.

I turn the + to a -, beside the Display Adapters and see,

Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller

Hope that helps!

This should be the correct driver:

http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts-df-external/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=N&ProductID=757&DwnldID=9033&strOSs=45&OSFullName=Windows*%20XP%20Home%20Edition&lang=eng

I would recommend, however, getting a brand new video card. Integrated graphics aren't exactly the best to use for games. :-)

Hmmm, still no FFXI. >< Same error message, fairly sure I downloaded the right one. I saw three possible downloads. If I download more then one, will evil things happen? Also will these downloads cause trouble with future hardware updates?

I spoke with a tech. over a online help chat. I was refered to this - Jaton GeForce MX4000 64MB DDR PCI / DUAL VGA - Does that sound like a good update? Trying to save what money I can. But I also want decent preformance in FFXI, and someday other MMOs. Warhammer, Age of Conan, LOTRs, come to mind. Also FPSs.

You'v been of great help and support so far, and more advise about fixing my lack of FFXI will be greatly appreciated. Sorry for my lack of knowledge on these subjects. I am learning, and thank you for the support. ^^

I'll tell my fellow Taru to keep an eye out for you. ;)

Used to be that integrated graphics were unable to play FFXI due to the lack of Hardware TnL. Unless they removed a video card while your rig was in the shop, I don't see how you used to play FFXI with the Intel GPU.

Is there any reason for removing my card and not replacing it? When I took my PC back the second time, because my CD drives did nothing. I was told a ribbon needed to be replaced. Also if things need to be replaced, do you think there is anything else that I should check. Since the Best Buy guy, only seems to help me if I ask about it.

Thank you for your information.
