Having trouble...Follow

I am trying to run Final Fantasy XI (FFXI) on my PC and X360 at the same time with two different accounts. My router is a Netgear WGR614 v4 with the latest firmware.

My problem is that when I try to enter different areas within FFXI on my X360 the game will disconnect after a few minutes. I don't have any connection problems on PC. Now I know that my router can not run the same application across two platforms due to "Port" overlap..as in both platforms would need the same ports opened to run FFXI. To try and get around this issue I enabled UPnP on my router.

Now my X360 will work fine if my PC version of the game is not on; however, if both versions are on the X360 version will disconnect only when I enter I different area within the game.

Do I need to adjust my UPnP settings?

Is what I am trying to do even possible?

I just want to play FFXI at the same time with my GF using an X360 and a PC.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Hmm, Interesting issue there. What I would try is put a non routing switch upstream of the router between the router and your cable modem, run the xbox out of it, and then run the PC behind the router. I know you can have multiple FFXI computer versions connected at one time, so it's odd that the Xbox would kick it off, but maybe it uses odd packets or something? I'm not familiar enough with the 360 to know how it routes.

I just thought I would add I used to run FFXI on a PC and the PS2 through the same router just fine (I don't use the PS2 for FFXI anymore as I only have one account now). I don't recall having to change any special settings to do this, but I'll go back and look through the settings again when I get home to make sure.

I don't know much about how the XBox360's network settings are, but if you can (and it would be silly if you couldn't) give your Xbox360 a static IP address, then in your router configuration, put it in the DMZ.
Try also turning UPnP off, both on your computer and in your router.

I, like Wint, have run FFXI on my PC and PS2, sometimes even with my brother down the hall also playing on his PC, all through the same router without having to make any special settings change.
