because that is the word on the street. Multiple page threads in the general forum of worldofwarcraft.com where your site is mentioned as a source.

Your site is a great resource, and as big of an rude tard as I am (if you remember me :D) I think you have good info. Just wondering what the scoop is and what you're doing for damage control cuz this is not going to be good for your rep if you ignore it. I am sure you've gotten a ton of mail about it, just wondering why there is nothing in the news section or stickies.

If there is then it's probably due to some idiot posting links in forums and then idiots going and clicking on them. It takes two to tango. Worldofwarcraft.com you say, sounds like idiot central to me, they probably got a virus when they were downloading crazy frog ringtones.

What would actually help is if you reported threads you suspected to be dodgy in the admin forum.

That is all.

This site is not mentioned by blizzard, only posters. If I had to guess I'd say they posters badmouthing this site are goldsellers. They know how much we like to ruin their business and educate people.

There is occasional adware etc. that sneaks in though banner ads, but the admins block the offending ad provider as soon as they hear about it.

The people behind this latest wave of trojans are not just griefing, they want your gold to sell online. This gaming site is probably the only one you will not see ads written by goldsellers.

Make sure you've installed all the updates for Internet Explorer if you still use it.

Trojan Virus Alert Submitted by: Allakhazam

Category: Gaming NewsThis only applies to you if you are running an older version of Internet Explorer, have not updated windows with the latest security patches and do not have virus protection on your computer. Apparantly one of our ad providers was affected by a trojan and was serving it to our site for several days last weekend. This is a keylogger and could possibly compromise your game login and password. As soon as we discovered it, we pulled all of their ads.

To see if you got the trojan, go to Program Files/Internet Explorer in your directory and look for a file named "syssmss.exe". If it is there, then open your task manager and delete the file. Also go to %WIN_DIR%\Downloaded Program Files and delete a file named either ************************ or "muma.exe". Then once you have done that, log into the game and change your password.

There are also several online sites that scan your computer for free.

We apologize for this. In 6 years of running this site, nothing like this has ever happened. It kills me to think that we may have, even inadvertantly, caused anyone to have their account compromised. We're all about making the games better and more fun. Believe me, we will do everything in our power to make sure it does not happen again.

Along with the advertiser who sent this, and in cooperation with the FBI, we are attempting to track down the people who sent this. I hope I get a few minutes in a back room with the bastards.

In other words it wouldn't effect %99 of people who browse this site. If you're not willing to AT LEAST have some sort of up to date virus scanner on your machine (free.grisoft.com) or keep your browser and OS semi up to date then um...no comment.

Sorry to be rude curaja but if you come in and make a sweeping accusation without any proof then I'm likely to have a go at you. As I said before if you're trying to help, which I don't think you really were, you would have posted something on the Admin forum with proof in the first place.

Either way it sounds like admin was made well aware of the problem and dealt with it.
