Typing special characters in FFXIFollow

I at first posted this in the Main FFXI forum and immediately realized that was the wrong place for it since it got no responses but did get rated down...

Anyway.... I was in a pt with a Japanese player a while back and he was using some special characters in his macros. Specifically what I remember were numbers enclosed in circles: â‘

I copied and pasted that from the Character map in windows. I'd think there is some Alt+number code or something similar that you can use to make that appear but I'm at a loss as to how to figure it out. What I would really like to know is how to get these characters to appear while I am in FFXI.

Thanks in advance,
Luo.

P.S. I have been trying to look up information about how to do this on the web and thus far all I have found out is that it is "Unicode" but I have failed at every attempt to be able to type it.

I see. I kind of figured that was the case, but I hoped since I could see the characters that there was a chance that I could use them as well. Thanks for the help.

Actually you can emulate special characters by pressing some numbers on your numpad and then a spacebar, but the selection/variety is very limited. I don'taru think I found numbers enscribed in circles nor have I found swastikas, which I have seen a japanese player create...

There is a fair amount of characters that can be inputted using the alt+numbers. For instance:
… = alt+0133
ù = alt+151

And all I did was hold the alt-key, hit the proper numbers on the numberpad, and release the alt-key. Try it in Notepad, and see if it works for you.
