My FFXI was pretty badly corrupted so I had to do a reinstall. After installing the game again the update failed giving me this error when file 120.DAT was at 100%. It has done this everytime I try to download the update.
The solution I was given was to reduce my RAM to under 1 gig. The problem with this is that my RAM is and has always been 512 megs. Another thing I tried was to delete this file and try updating again, but the same thing happened. I tried having someone send me the file and I have tried reinstalling the game multiple times, but to no avail.
I can't seem to find a solution to this problem anywhere. SE told me to reformat my HDD and then try and reinstall, but my research suggests that this will not fix the problem. Is there any other way to fix this?

I'm not sure what the real problem was but I tried the update again this morning and it worked. My guess is that there was some kind of communication problem between my PC and the server that somehow fixed itself. I'm glad I got past it though.
