World of Warcraft - nv4_disp.dll and BSODFollow

#1 Jan 17 2005 at 9:31 PM Rating: Decent
First off let me finish the required info:

Game: World of Warcraft
Processor: Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
Ram: 1024MB DDR PC3200
HDD: 40GB (18.5GB free)
Windows XP Service Pack 2
Video Adapter: Geforce 6800 GT (256mb) current driver from Nvidia website.
Computer model no: N/A
Frequency: About 10 - 30 minutes into gameplay

I ran a Virus checker on the included website Trend Micro, found nothing. This started happening about 2 days ago, nothing changed but just the computer went to BSOD while playing WoW. Would give me memory reference locators on the BSOD...

0x0000008E (0xC00000005, 0xBFB8EF03, 0xF68B6A6C, 0x00000000)
nv4_disp.dll BFB8EF03 base at BF9D3000 41acdded

Checked support.microsoft.com,
Said to update drivers, done.
Said to update bios drivers, done.
Windowsupdate.microsoft.com has nothing

So... what's the word?
Why is my computer crashing now?
I left EQ because of this... now WoW is doing it? Why did it not start a month ago when I first bought the game?

Can someone help?

What version of nvidia drivers are you using? (Actual version number)
Is it WHQL certified?
What is the idle temperature and full load temperature of your system?
Directx version?
Motherboard brand and model?

Hey, thanks for the reply,
here's the information you requested...

I'm using DX 9.0c
I'm on a MSI PT800 updated the VIA 4 in 1 driver.
The current drivers i'm using for my video driver is:

61.77 but i've used 66.93, and even the beta 67.xx drivers.

Also, the temperature runs at 102/115

Still crashing, even last night, I had about 30 minutes of game play and then crashing... with a nasty sound coming out of my speakers, which repeats.

I've read elsewehre that it's a string of data looping around in my video card...

Any suggestions?

Edit: Included temperature information.
