My computer is brand new,

256 MB RAM
80 GB H/D

Here are some specs from Dirext X 9 (All tests were succesful):

Card name: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller
Manufacturer: Intel Corporation
Chip type: Intel(R) 82845G Graphics Controller
DAC type: Internal
Display Memory: 64.0 MB
Current Mode: 1024 x 768 (32 bit) (75Hz)
Monitor: Default Monitor

I have no idea what this means (I'm not good with PC's).

I really want to be able to play games like Guild Wards, Everquest, and others with good graphics without all of the horrible lag and constant crashing I get.

I don't know if I need a new video card or what...so if some smart person here could help me out...it would be greatly appreciated.

That's an integrated video chip. They're horribly underpowered. Not sure about EQ, but I know that FFXI will not work with that card. Plus, you RAM is at the required for EQ, so it's a little low. If you were to double your RAM, it would certainly speed things up.

What Kastigir means is that your graphics are integrated onto your motherboard, rather than being a separate card, which will plug into your motherboard's AGP card slot.

To play up to date games to their fullest, you'll need to invest in a graphics card. I'm not the person to be advising you on this, as mine (GeForce 3 64Mb) is over 3 years old! However, it still handles EQ and WoW without any problems.

Browse around on the net, and check out magazines for comparisons of video cards. You can normally pick up bargains, as new cards are coming out all the time. If you pick one that's 6 - 9 months old, you'll have almost as good as those at the bleeding edge of technology, but you won't pay through the nose for them.

When you get your card, you'll need to find out how to disable the on-board graphics you have - once again, I don't know enough about that to offer a definitive view. Hopefully, the installation and detection of an AGP card will disable the on-board graphics, but you'll need to check your motherboard's manual.

Hope this helps.
