Allakhazam Login IssuesFollow

I need some help. Let me describe my problem first:

- When I open up the Allakhazam's page I am not logged in as my user, but as another user named 'Franic'. When I go to the "login / admin..." account I can log in fine and it shows 'stehle' as the correct user. When I exit to go to other features on the site it will be a tossup between 'stehle', 'franic', or not logged in at all (thus disabling features or showing those annoying pop-ups).

I've tried deleting my cache. I've tried deleting my cookies. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks for the help...

Couple questions for you:

a) does this problem occur mostly on pages with no ? in the URL? for example: https://everquest.allakhazam.com/ or say https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/adv_search.html

b) what kind of network hardware exists between you and the internet? any caching proxies?

Checked a few other link, I am logged in fine if there is a '?' in the URL.

To answer your second question. This only occurs when I'm at work. So there is definitely proxies between the internet and me (I don't have all the specifics). I do know we cache frequently viewed webpages, but out of a company of 10k+, only a handful visit this site making it unlikely it is cached. Usually our cache is only setup to snag sites like microsoft when there is an update, etc.

the problem is that the proxies which cache your network stuff are ignoring the expires headers this site sends. (all html pages are set to expire instantly, whereas images, css, js, xsl, etc are all set to live for a month)

This is a fairly common habit of proxies, since they're probably assuming that "why would their html content need to be uncached?"

Simplest work around is to add a ? to the URL's which complain that you're not logged in.

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/itemzone.html? for example.

The reason you're seeing alternate usernames popping up periodically is that there are other people on your network logged in :)

I'm working on a redesign of the main EQ site at the moment, and I'm pondering renaming alot of pages at the same time to a .phtml extension so that they stop being cached..
