I know the game supports add-ons, but having to install add-ons just to be competitive makes me think there's something wrong with the class. I can play my Arms Warrior with zero add-ons and out-damage my Druid. My Warrior is wearing PvP gear and my Druid is wearing PvE gear, by the way. Good times.
The problem with the Feral Druid lies in the RNG coupled with the need to maintain vital power-ups via said RNG. I remember once where my Tiger's Fury was on cooldown when I had to engage a boss. Due to an unfortunate string of non-crits, my 0-point Savage Roar dropped a millisecond before I could apply Rip. Rip just lost 40% damage, yay. The fact that there's a glyph that allows you to apply Savage Roar at 0 points is a pretty obvious indicator that something isn't right. Didn't they roll all that passive +damage sh*t into the classes with 4.0? Wasn't that the whole point of the talent revamp? Why do I have to hit a button before combat just to not break my spec?
Retribution Paladins also have to stack a power-up before they can unleash full DPS, but theirs is applied at 3 points instead of 5, and it lasts 60 seconds vs the 42 seconds of a 5-point Savage Roar. Oh, and it's the only thing Retribution Paladins need to spend points on in combat, aside from burst damage. Ferals also have to spend surplus points on Ferocious Bite. Gonna want those Bites to stay competitive. The Savage Roar mechanic is just a massive pain. Unless you're some crazy proactive savant, you're going to mess up sooner or later. The entire rotation works against the player instead of with the player. It feels like the game is trying, every step of the way, to make me mess up.
I'm not saying I want a 1-button rotation, but there is way too much sh*t to handle right now. And that's without going Dream of Cenarius where you need to weave in heals before you apply your bleeds. I can't think of ANY other spec in the game that even comes close to that amount of cluster@#%^ just to be competitive.
Edit: Also, I'm not an idiot, thank you very much.
