Someone should make a warhammer 40k action RPG. Slaughtering your way through hordes of enemies in first person would be badass.

And Bolt Thrower should be hired for the soundtrack.

Not first person, but first person melee is awkward, anyway (I mean you, Skyrim).

First person is way better for the blood and gore though and there's not that much melee in 40K.

Awkwardness of first person melee aside, you want to see that up close and personal, right? You want to see each blade as it rips into your enemy's skin and flesh, spraying blood and guts everywhere as you cut further and further into your enemy's body.

Edit: with something like this as the soundtrack:

Went out to get some late night food and passed a girl being pulled out of a frat Halloween party and into an ambulance on a stretcher, unconscious and with tubing everywhere.

Jesus Christ people, you're allowed to have fun at a party, but don't be stupid.

This is an extremely common occurrence here, too.

It's not a party if you didn't almost die from alcohol poisoning.

The worst part about spending a lot of your free time interacting with people online is that you end up crushing on people who don't live anywhere remotely close to you...

Tell me about it. I've been having a wonderful conversation on OkCupid with a girl from Paris over the past couple of weeks.

Also OMGOMGOMG Dutch speed skating championships were awesome. Lots of really good times and the best ending possible with the final race on the 10k for men, the 2 best at that distance pitted against each other and racing almost tied until ~8600 meters in when Sven Kramer accelerated like he used to do a few years ago and riding (400m) laps under 30 seconds for a track record.

I find it mind boggling that there aren't more people around the world watching this. The races may take ~13 minutes (12:46 for the winning race) but it's goddamn exciting.

Consider it a possible excuse to move to Paris?

Except that I really don't want to move to Paris. I love the croissants and the museums but it's pretty bad for beer and my French is abysmal.

I'm dying to go to Paris. I'm not dying to pay the premium to actually get there, though. Smiley: lol

Then again, I don't drink much (and when I do, it's wine).

It's a place worth visiting, even just for Musee D'Orsay alone. Nothing in Paris is cheap though, aside from the subway.
An advantage of course is that should you go there Brussels and Amsterdam are basically right around the corner with the Thalys.

I might end up making a weekend trip to Paris some time but I've already got a weekend trip to Barcelona booked for December.

As of right now, my only firmish plan is to make it to Bratislava to visit a friend. I need to just go ahead and find out when that would be smart/buy tickets.

Well, should you visit Amsterdam (or any other place in the Netherlands) let me know and I'll buy you a beer. Or a glass of wine or whatever.

Ha, will do. I hope to make it there someday.

The same goes for you, if you ever find yourself in NYC or Philadelphia.

On a sidenote, 120+ km/h winds today in parts of the Netherlands and I've got to go outside and cycle because I need to go shopping for my mom's Birthday.

It's pretty windy here as well, about 25 mph, but we're use to it.

I take it that you have no other option; perhaps waiting until tomorrow, or is the birthday today?

Edit: I just realized 120 km/h is about 75 mph. Jeez that's windy!

Lern2google.

Edit: they're now reporting winds over 140km/h (that's 87mph for those of us who can't google). And after a woman died in Amsterdam because a tree fell on her people in the north west of the country are now advised to stay indoors. I'm pretty sure this is the worst storm we've had in quite a few years.
