Wasn't really anything stupid being said, just a dozen people trying to schedule meetings with everyone doing two-finger typing. By the time one person replied to a date, someone had set another. Everything took ages.
At least I finally got to get some words in, and they moved the deadline for that documentary they want me to edit. They kept telling me that all the relevant material was on the FTP server, but there's 20 GB of video on there, spread out over 50+ files. No way in **** I'm watching 3-4 hours of video and editing it all together. I wasn't even involved in this project six months ago. Managed to talk them into giving me six 30-minute compilations of their files instead of six folders with six sub-folders full of files each.
Now I just have to cut each 30-minute video down to 10 minutes (insane editing when you think about it) so that the final product lands just north of one hour.
Hilarious how people think that just because you know your way around a computer, you're Steven Spielberg. IT and AV are not the same... two different fields of interest. I like IT; I don't give a crap about AV. But at least the work hours are ****.
