Didn't a Dutch company buy them? Or maybe it was German.
AB-Inbev is a combination of Anheuser Busch and Inbev which in turn is a combination of Ambev of Brazil and Interbrew of Belgium all 3 of them already owned many brands and were active in many countries before all the mergers (see also
the full list). The official HQ is still in Belgium if I am not mistaken and they are lead by the former CEO of Ambev who has orchestrated most of these mergers and a bevvy of buyouts as that's what he does best, buy companies, strip them to save cost and then buy more. So far they have been unsuccessful to gain back any terrain on either wine, liquor or craft beer and in fact they keep losing more terrain to it, the only reason AB-Inbev keeps growing is because of buyouts.
