Don't comic books constantly retcon anything and everything?
Fair enough. Fortunately, I don't follow any comics too closely. I'm more interested in the characters than the events.
What tends to annoy me is when a scene is really explicitly played out, and then they just change that scene to fit their needs down the line. Like, you already established the scene. You made fine details about it cannon.
In this case, Gul'Dan summons all the Orcs to a summit where they're getting a "gift" from Kil'Jaedan. That gift is Mannoroth's blood, and only Gul'Dan knows that (well, Durotan was secretly told by Ner'Zhul). They're told it'll make them powerful, but they have no clue it will bind them to Mannoroth, no clue about the bloodlust.
Gul'Dan asks who will go first (with the clear intention of the Warchief being the first), but Grom strides up and places himself first, and then drinks without hesitation. Everyone else follows, except for Orgrim (who abstains) and Durotan (who forbids his clan from drinking).
But in the cinematic, Gul'Dan is cajoling Grom into drinking, Grom knows he'll be a slave to the demons, Mannoroth is there... it just makes no sense.
I mean, I could possibly explain away Grom's hesitation by him knowing he'd be a slave, but frankly it's hard to see him actually refusing at that point in time anyway. And that still doesn't explain why Mannoroth would be there (when they were intentionally keeping him secret from the clans).
