I'm considering Montreal.

If it wasn't August, I'd do NOLA.

Why Montreal?

I've never thought of anything in Canada as a summer holiday destination.

Because crowdfunding.

The above campaign may or may not have been (re)started because of Stone Brewing holding a kickstarter for $1,000,000 to help build a brewery in Berlin despite it costing $24 million and their recent development of a hotel as well so they clearly aren't starved for cash.

Medication I'm on means I can't really spend all that much time in the sun anyway, so beach destinations aren't really any superior. Might as well go somewhere where it's not 600 degrees.

The tissue is pushing outward, not inward, so it's not a huge problem in the way of potential death.

I have permanent sutures in my abdominal muscle wall... or something like that. Essentially, the tissue around it is growing badly, so the suture (and the tissue) are getting pushed outward, which has caused a protrusion off the muscles there. It wasn't anything but an asthetic issue before, but now I keep causing trauma to the area, because it's sort of hard to avoid having pressure on your abdomen.

Solution? He's gonna go in, remove the tissue/suture, check the other sutures, and possible re-suture.

Suture.

I'm not one for sun or heat so I get what you're saying. I'm mostly curious what there is to see and/or do in Montreal.

Also, if I were you I'd stop in Waterbury and Greensboro in Vermont for The Alchemist and Hill Farmstead along the way. If whatever meds you're on agree with alcohol anyway.

I can have a drink a night or so, but I'm not supposed to have more than that. I actually need to get blood work each month while I'm on the treatment to monitor my liver.

And I'd just explore the city, really.

If I'm drinking to enjoy it, or drinking to enjoy it, I drink wine.
If I'm out with friends, I drink beer.

Not law or anything, but that's the general trend.

And when I'm drinking beer, I'm probably not drinking good beer. My go-to order is Sam Adams Summer Ale -> Blue Moon -> Yuengling. Most bars in the US will have at least one of them on tap.

Side note: Fireball Whisky actually does taste exactly like a Red Hot candy, if anyone was looking for a really dangerous sipping whisky.

Smiley: frown

Take care of yourself and everything. You have my sympathy on the meds as well, avoiding alcohol consumption and heat doesn't make for a fun summer.

If you need a quick pick me up try pushing an ugly person into a rose bush. It works wonders, or so I'm told. Smiley: um

They're a far cry from bad beer and pretty much ideal if you're just looking for a beer without bells and whistles.

Yeah, I mostly just meant bad as "non-craft" because all the beer-drinkers in my life are more like you.

Though I'm sort of in a weird place with wine right now.

Whites tend to be too sweet for me, and I'm not really a fan of oak. But I'm not usually in the mood for red. So that leaves a really small number of wines I'd want.

I wouldn't say no to those beers or call them bad, they just serve a different kind of purpose than fancy beers.

Edit: also, are dry whites also too sweet for you? Cause with sweet white wines it totally makes sense that you dislike them, especially cheap white wine. I don't find the better dry white wines to be overly sweet though.

Natty Ice actually has worse reviews than even Olde English over on RateBeer with lovely quotes like "This beer, when opened, smells as a urine soaked hallway on a hot afternoon" in the reviews.

I can do drier whites, yeah, but even pinot grigio is hit or miss for me. A dry chardonnay is probably fine, but finding a solid, affordable, unoaked one is annoying.

It doesn't help that all my friends (sans 1) drink disgustingly sweet things. And I don't even mean that relative to my tastes; they tend to buy things like moscatos. And... no. Just no.

My sister tends to drink even sweeter white wine from Aldi. It's absolutely vile **** and she even brings it when I make a fancy meal with appropriate wine and beer.

No matter what I make, it's accompanied by the worst possible wine that drowns out any flavour with it's rancid sweetness. You can try to help them but there's just no hope for the uncivilized masses with dysfunctional tongues and noses.

A local bar just tapped a cask of a belgian IPA from a local brewery. Good times were had.
