Also a dwarf planet, and quite likely other kuiper belt object(s), if everything gets planned out in time. Then the poor little hunk of metal disappears into deep space forever.

And 10,000 years later, some poor alien astronaut is going to get a face full of metal. Greetings from Earth. We come in peace.

I'm not saying never but given the size and general emptiness of space the odds are not favourable.

Not bad luck, good luck. If I've learned anything from gaming it's that he could take the scrap metal and trade it for enough credits to upgrade his lasers. Smiley: schooled

I'm reminded of a certain scene in Mass Effect 2:

Life always beats the odds. Just look at Australia.

Just don't look too close, something will probably kill you.

Sunn O))) makes your subwoofer do funny things, like rattle the table it's standing on and shake itself to pieces.

What, you don't like 15+ minutes songs that are mostly guitar feedback? Drone is a very odd genre (yes, there's an entire genre of this kind of stuff) and it's not something I listen to a lot but listening to a few songs with the volume turned way up is a great way to clear your mind.

I'm still not a fan of their most extreme songs but songs like this one are @#%^ing sweet.

edit: also that album cover is @#%^ing awesome. edit edit: it's this painting by Richard Serra.

Looks like someone took a picture looking down on a pile of dirt. I can appreciate the simplistic, yet detailed, motif, and I'm a relatively big fan of grayscale art, so I agree.

When I want to clear my mind, though, I play the soundtrack to the movie Oblivion. One of the best soundtracks out there, in my opinion, as it has a perfect mix of tranquil and climactic moments. I can just shut my eyes and let my imagination take me wherever I want to go. It's the closest thing I get to being able to meditate.

I know you're not big on tracks without vocals, but here's a sample:

I don't mind music not having vocals, Karma To Burn is one of my favourite bands and for the longest time they didn't even have a singer and I'd much rather not hear a singer than hear a voice altered by autotune. It's electronic sounds I generally don't like, I want to hear instruments whether that's a regular piano or the distorted as @#%^ guitar noise that Sunn O))) makes.

Also, I like the soundtrack, good music.

edit: also, I feel much the same way about the Sunn O))) album I linked, except it's pretty overbearing and doesn't really leave room for anything else which is why it works so well to clear my mind I guess. Earth is in a similar vein as Sunn O))) but a lot less abrasive, you might like that more.

I like that one better, Aeth. Reminds me of Pink Floyd, for some reason.

For Mazra:

A 50+ page paper correlating people's happiness with genetic similarity to those in Denmark. It seems the more Danish we are the happier we are.
