So my dog just got put down, she was 14.5 and in poor health, didn't hear or see much anymore and she could barely get up. Plus I haven't lived at my dad's place in years so it's not like I saw her more than a few times a year but it's still a weird feeling.
I know you said you're not really sad about it, but I'll say I'm sorry anyway. Sometimes it takes a bit to realize you are sad when you lose your childhood pet. It did for me anyway.

How are you doing anyway? Things going better? (Minus the 17 hour days of course).
Yeah, I miss his pithy comments. Such verve! Such Panache! Elan even! Sorry to hear about the long days digg. Just remember that what doesn't kill you, makes you stronger. Or makes you take drugs. I forget which . . . must be the drugs . . .

Don't go all conservative on me now. Smiley: disappointed

Bupropion is the mild antidepressant I'm on, and Trazodone was prescribed as a sleep aid. Bupropion is a stimulant hence the doctor giving the sleep aid to use on the side if needed. It seems to do a better job of making me groggy the next morning than actually helping me fall asleep though. Smiley: rolleyes

Pills are weird and scary.

It's fun. They turned me loose on it now, and it's installation time. Which means I'm entering my password 2-3 times for every program I download and run. You'd think they had a thing against you downloading and running .exe files from unknown sources or something. Smiley: rolleyes

Also awesome screen real estate, from 1 14in monitor to 2 21in monitors. Smiley: nod

but seriously, i started using 3 about a year ago.

makes my work flow a lot easier.

i keep browsers and email on the left, what ever IDE im currently using on center and with chat, database, terminals and a text editor on the right

being able to look at the browser, code and db all at once makes debugging a million times easier

Salary here still means paid overtime unless you do a job where overtime is expected. It kind of depends on what sort of job you do as it's negotiated between workers and employers unions but in general your boss can't tell you to work longer or on a weekend without paying you for the extra hours and usually 1.5x normal rate for evenings and weekends, 2x for weekend evenings, unless that is normal for your work (barman or something like that).

I don't get overtime when I put it in normally. I'm supposed to, but it doesn't happen. My standard workweek is actually scheduled for more hours than I'm salaried for.

For this event, I'll be getting extra hours. I don't know if I'll get all of them, and I don't know if I'll get time and a half. But I will get some.

My boss will probably try and pay out with comp time instead. I haven't decided how worthwhile fighting that is. Because, on the one hand, **** that, pay me. On the other hand, I'm hoping to leave soon, and comp time will get paid out. And if I don't leave, it's extra vacation time.

On the third hand, I've been here a year and a half and I haven't taken a single vacation. So.
