For what it's worth, we've still got people stuck in the 1800s here. Mostly in Pennsylvania.

We have some of them out here too. They don't seem to mind coming to the Hospital and taking advantage of modern medicine though.

That at least shows they're not entirely braindead.

Ours are some order of Mennonite and not the hardcore Amish types. I guess we still have our fair share of this however.

I dunno about some people...

I've never personally had a bad experience with the Amish community, but that's just anecdotal. I figure any group made up of more than four people is bound to have at least one ******** in it, and likewise not everyone in the group is a *********

I'm also enjoying calling people ********* today for some reason. I've done it twice and it sounds nice.

If TV is to be trusted they're all part of a mafia.

**** yeah! The Netherlands beat Germany 1 - 0, all but eliminating Germany for the semi finals*.

* Hockey world championships are 2 groups of 6, best 2 of each group go to the semi finals. This is Germany's second defeat in 3 games putting them at 3 points behind the Netherlands at 9 and Argentine and New Zealand at 6.

It's always good to see the Dutch beat Germany at any sports, neighbor rivalries and such. I'll also get to rub it in Kali's face that my country is better at a sport than her country, she won't care but that doesn't matter.

That's how I feel every time the Mets win a game.

Obviously it doesn't happen often.

In men's hockey it's pretty close to 50/50 between the Netherlands and Germany, the problem is that Germany's wins are all too often in finals and semi finals.

This is why I never got into Dragon Ball Z:

One fight, 2 hours and 40 minutes long. Ridiculous amount of time spent on animation loops and people staring intently at each other while grinding their teeth. How does anyone find this interesting? I'm bored senseless 10 minutes in.

Dragonball was good. Dragonball Z was the catalyst for Dragonball Z Abridged which is good.

Dragonball Z by itself is crap.

Dragonball Z is the anime equivalent of reading a manga. Approximately equal amount of time spent on reaction shots as Naruto.

Being of Nordic descent, I've got a bit of ginger in me, and it's a pain in the *** in the summer. I much prefer the cold, which is why I turn into a giddy Stark every August. Winter is coming!

I might as well be ginger, I go from ghostly white to lobster red and back again.

Also Anna Flanagan is a good reason to watch hockey.

I love summer, as long as it doesn't surpass ~25°C and I can sit on a terras with a cold beer. 30-35°C is too much for me. Of course, normally only my forearms and face get sun since I don't like wearing shorts but yesterday I spent most of the day naked so pretty much every part of me is bright red.

So, looks like the USA women will make the semi finals as either 1st or 2nd in the group, which of those likely to be determined by whether they beat South Africa (they should) and the goals scored/against for them and Argentine. In the semi finals though they'll face either The Netherlands (if they place 2nd) or Australia (if they place 1st), neither one is a matchup they're likely to win, even if they pull off a draw against them as they did against Argentine their relatively weak technical skills and inexperience will make winning the shoot-outs* exceedingly different.

Still, it's pretty amazing that they've gotten this far. They were probably estimated as the second weakest team in the group behind England and Germany.

*1 player vs keeper, player starts at 23m from the goal and has 8 seconds to score a goal.
