This movie? No. Just... No. I went into it with far lower expectations (only watched it because my dad wanted to see it). And, well, I really wish I hadn't.

I went into it with high expectations, because I loved the previous one. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time.

This is true, but they're not pulling from only the hobbit.

Where exactly do you see them pulling from other content sources?

Because there was maybe half an hour of content I can account for from other content sources, and all of it is Dul Guldur.

The vast majority of time that wasn't from the core sourcework is original content. And I'd wager we can count well over an hour of it, between Legolas and Tauriel and the chase scene through the mountain.

If you eliminated that, and edited the movie down to 2 hours, it'd eliminate most of my issues with the movie (which, to be clear, isn't that it's "too long," it's that it's horribly paced because the content doesn't keep up with the action).

And I actually really liked Tauriel. I think she adds a necessary feminine aspect to the film, I like that she's actually being used to engage with the coming conflict (since she's literally the ONLY link between those plot threads right now that's being used to create tension), and she's actually engaging with the Dwarves in a way that leads to some character building.

Legolas, on the other hand, has yet to bring much of anything to the movies.

Maybe the problem is that I'm just not interested in Peter Jackson's fanfiction. Which is what this feels like... because that's literally what it is.

3 movies digg.

As for the rest, I don't have the energy to engage, it's cool you didn't expect to like it, went in looking to not like it, and then surprise! didn't enjoy it. Well done.

It's been a while since I watched it though, so I'll probably watch it again soon, and inevitably will keep this in mind. If I come up with anything to say about it, I'll let you guys know.

I agree with a lot of this review. The most major bit is that she's kinder towards the mountain-chase scene than I am (though she still takes issues with various parts of it).

You're right, that's a pretty disastrous flaw, I'm sure it has trucknuts to make up for it just a little though.

At least you can take the fridge magnetd off easily, if one of your kids comes up to you all proud of what they drew with their crayons on the wall you're probably in a worse mood.

I have art on my walls from my friends two girls, who unknown to us decided my office needed decorating while we were moving in.

Anyway I was helping the oldest with the homework while doing dishes, I suppose I may have left my browser open to this page as well... Smiley: um

I'm thinking I might try not to be a waste of space today (like I've been all weekend). Might wash the car or something.

What Fishy said.

I've used a significant part of my weekend with eating meat because my sister got a new BBQ and invited some people to help test it out. No weekend anymore today though.

I ate a LOT of pizza yesterday.

I mean a lot.

Today I worked out and washed my truck. That evens things out, right?

13-hour workday. This was not in the job description back when I chose my profession, dammit!

Out of said 13 hours, I've been sitting/standing still for maybe 40 minutes total (in intervals of 10 minutes). Holy crap, I'm glad I switched to sneakers a while back. My feet are killing me, but at least I don't have open wounds on them anymore.

And what a day! It wasn't even one of those days where you could just lean back and relax. No, no. There was no substitute on my P.E. class, so I had to take care of 40 nine-year-old boys all by myself. And then chemistry with 7th graders where two guys got into a fight and I had to physically pacify one of them because he was endangering himself and others. And then geography lessons with 8th graders. Their original teacher is coming back, so we played softball to celebrate. I was dragged into the game and spent 90 minutes running around after a damn tennis ball.

Then four hours of preparing for tomorrow's lessons, which included walking to every damn grocery store in the area to get the stuff I needed for the freezing mixture we're going to make slush ice with tomorrow (I love applied chemistry, by the way). And then preparing for the last activity of the day: board meeting where I was to give a lecture on internet etiquette.

I was so tired at that point that whenever I started a sentence, I would instantly forget where I was going with it and then had to make up a new direction on the spot to not look like a @#%^ing idiot. Luckily, I'm pretty good at improvising under pressure. Bosses loved it, and the board members (consisting mostly of parents) were shocked. Why? Because in 5th grade (11 years old), 90% of the class was using Facebook and/or Instagram. Age restriction on both services is 13 years.

That's my day. What have you guys been doing?

I got the work for my difficult clients done and a followup to two of them. Mostly I got to send bills and accept entirely undeserved compliments. I followed it up with Ben&Jerry's and Brooklyn's Black Chocolate Stout.

It was a pretty good day.

Only if it was as big as the truck in the picture.

House is clean, and the youngest is getting the hang of this whole toilet thing. I hopped onto Rift only to find my whole zone overrun with earth elementals. Spent an hour beating them back and finally cleared enough rifts to bring the boss out. Everyone was cheering when he went down. Good times.

You should also sit more.

On the news today, in one weekend ~8 kilos of amphetamine passes through sewers in Eindhoven (a city of ~220k people), that's enough for roughly 80,000 pills.

Good luck with your science Maz! From having teacher friends, it can be pretty brutal during the school year. You do get summers though! (or don't you, I don't know anything about your messed up non Canadian system Smiley: smile)
