I'm moving this weekend, getting the place on Thursday. I'm happy that I have a trip this week though, as it gives me something to do, so I don't just pace around the house when I'm not at work.

And online self destruct buttons, active once the delivery is six hours late.

Not to mention the hazard pay for being a delivery driver. Usually my problem is that they don't have the item at all, and won't get it for who knows how long. However they have no problems listing the item online and saying they'll deliver it on time.

People. Smiley: glare

The beast is alive! And almost everything is reinstalled (just adobe to go), I'm also officially on the modular PSU train now. The ~ 30 second shutdown and reboot made all the restarting so much quicker though, I love that.

It did take me a good 45 minutes before I figured out that the DVD drive wasn't connected properly (PC saw it but couldn't read the W7 dvd) and I redid the wiring 3 times to get it somewhat organized. edit: BIOS looks nice though, easy access to all the overclocking stuff so that may be a future venture.

Also also, it's my cats birthdays today. They're 1 year old now and still adorable... one of them anyway, Pink has her face all scratched up from fighting.

Huh, didn't know modular PSU was a thing. Not sure if I'm using it or not, because the comparison pictures I've found just show what appears to be a regular PSU next to a cluster@#%^ of a cable mess. I have cables for all my junk plus one or two spares for additional hard drives. Is that modular or just non-cluster@#%^ PSU?

Grats on the new rig, Aeth. And Digg. My favorite part about getting new hardware is installing Windows and all the junk for the first time. It's fun seeing the improvements made over time. I remember when installing Windows took ages and required many a disk switch before completion. And then you had to spend ages popping in more disks to install drivers and other software, not to mention all your games. Now you just run the damn thing and it grabs everything online. On a 100 Mbit connection, it's faster for me to download and install the games via Steam than actually pop in disks. Like, World of Warcraft took longer to install from disks than via the patcher.

I use zip ties for most of my wires and cables and such. Makes things easier.

Also tell your cats congratulations on not becoming Chinese food.

I didn't even buy an optical drive. Smiley: lol

Just booted Windows from a USB, and everything else has been a download.

I got a super cheap optical drive just for when I may need it. It's way louder than anything else about the PC though. Smiley: lol

Regular PSU, modular version of the same PSU.

Edit: going from everything at minimum to fully maxed out everything in BL2 is pretty ******* sweet too. I'm pretty sure I'm getting higher fps too now. Smiley: laugh

Likely how things will be in the near future. The only two reasons we still have disc drives is because of size, with Blu Rays usually being cheaper per GB than a USB. But really, downloads are where it's at once most of the world catches up to South Korea's internet speeds.

I would have grabbed a bluray player if they were cheaper, but $60 is too steep when I already have a PS3.

[EDIT]

Also, I'm definitely past the stage of my life where I'm willing to entertain dailies. Been subbed to WoW for a few days and already annoyed. I have too little free time to waste things doing monotonous tasks.

I know that's not limited to WoW by any means. But WoW tends to be more endgame-centric and daily-driven than other games I play.

I only got an optical drive because it came with the rig. And because I watch DVDs on my computer.

The day they put movies on a flash drive instead of disks, I will abandon the optical drive as well. I know some people who won't, though. My dad's latest rig is the first rig without a 3.5-inch floppy drive.

Do they even make files small enough to fit on a floppy nowadays? Smiley: lol

Some of the photos I've been sent to use in flyers or on websites suggest that there are plenty. 200x300 images of a few kb, yeah that's totally going to work for your A4 sized magazine...

I hear you loud and clear.

My thing is usually the temporary rewards. I'm much more likely to spend a month grinding for something like a mount or companion pet that I can use forever, than something like gear that's obsolete in 3 months. If I'm going to grind, I really don't feel like repeating the same grinds over and over.Unless, of course, the gear looks awesome and I can use it as a wardrobe layer or something. Then all bets are off. Smiley: grin

I just don't like dailies period, almost to a point where I'd say they ruin the game.

It's another form of grind. Though something like a daily objective based on a dynamic world sounds much more interesting than "complete one of these 6 randomly chosen dungeons to get your token for today."

Then again I'll also go and "grind cloth" or something similar for an hour or two when I feel like doing something mindless and need some gold, so maybe I'm not the person to ask. Smiley: lol
