I got my Human DK to 90. He was the only one at 85 (because I never even finished the Cata zones). My Mage is like 82/83, and my BE DK is 80. Smiley: lol

And I didn't actually play that much. But I have the guild exp buff, the anniversary exp buff, and managed to be more efficient with the time I did play than I usually do (largely do to my severe hatred of wasting procs, so Dark Succor needed to be used, dammit).

I finished the rest of Jade Forest, did Valley of the Four Winds, and Krasarang to completion. Haven't set foot in another zone yet, and was generally always in the dungeon queue.

Side note: What the hell, RNG? I've seen so much mail in the past two days, it's ridiculous. It's a solid 70% of what dropped in every dungeon. Then it's like 20% cloth, and the last 10% was leather (just a bit), plate mail, and shields.

Smiley: glare

I upgraded my head and neck in the first dungeon I ran, and that was it for drops that were even upgrades.

I don't really know what I'm doing next. My Druid is at level 70, so he can head to Northrend...

Damn, I think I at least have 2 or 3 characters at 85 and another 3 or so at or near 80...

On a sidenote, I want a new game to play but I've got no idea where to even start looking for something. I kinda feel like playing an RPG or, well, ideally something like WoW but single player (including a not too serious art style).

I'm pretty sure I tried Dragon Age a year ago or so and absolutely hated every single second of it.

Edit: as far as I can remember, mostly because of the controls, which is my problem with mot western style RPG's. I really like MMO(like) controls, I just want to play one on my own. Smiley: lol

Well, Final Fantasy 12 is essentially a single-player MMO.

No, I just really needed new trinkets because when I hit 90 I was still using my Firelands trinkets. I figured VP would be the fastest way to do it, since that's how it's always worked. I don't like this concept of needing rep to use my VP. The upgrading system is kinda cool though.

Unlock the Valley of Used To Be Pretty and then unlock the quest line down at King's or Lion's Landing, or whatever it's called. You can buy some 496 trinkets there, I believe.

Not liking how I have to unlock a million things to get my ****. And definitely not liking how they put the vendors all over the damn place in Pandaria. Go to one corner for some JP gear; another corner for some trinkets, a third corner for PvP gear, etc.

And like someone else mentioned, you should go to Timeless Isles and farm chests. You get 496 epics with randomized (spec specific) stats from them. Here's a guide.

Yeah, that's a pretty massive issue for my DK... since I haven't even started the high level zones. Smiley: lol The only endgame faction I've run into is the one on those floats in Krasarang.

Ah, right. Didn't even think about that one, because it's so far off. If they do what they promise to do, it should be an awesome game. Hope it catches on and gets support. And hope they don't botch the launch.

Lol, it really is. The instances are fun and all, but the real game is the solo stuff. The dungeons are like the hint/invasion mechanic in Dark Souls. Fun and they add flavor, but you'd still play without them.

Really? Well maybe they avoided the hype trap, then. TOR definitely had one of those. Lots of big fanfare, then it kind of petered off for a long period. Then again, their launch couldn't have handled a much bigger load, so maybe that was good.

I hope EQN just bites the bullet and does a staggered launch. Do various pre-order tiers, then a general sales tier, and maybe second one of those, depending on the actual sales projections.

And try to avoid just adding servers. Launch sufficient servers, and unlock more spots as you unlock tiers, to keep the population growth across them all.

I mean, from a tech standpoint, we've had a serious of fairly solid launches in the past two years. From a user experience perspective (which is what really matters for marketing the game), they haven't been good. But it's hard to make the tech work better without paying for WAY more servers than you'll ever need, which hurts the profitability far too much.

I totally resubbed when they announced the new space battles... and then I haven't logged in since. Smiley: lol

I think they're just being overly optimistic about the 2014 launch, they've just officially announced the first few classes last week so Beta is still ages away.

Landmark however is supposed to launch early in 2014 so people can build stuff that may or may not end up in the game which is pretty cool.

I resubscribed to WoW, and I like my life enough that I don't use it for weird unhealthy escapism anymore. Well, except that it's great escapism from the poverty that prevents me to engage in more expensive activities in my free time.

I enjoy that I actually know the game sort of from before.

Applied to Cambridge today (finally, didn't have enough money before), so I think this "life" thing is also sort of working.

4 of the classes, different ones than the warrior and sorceress(?) in the promo video from a couple months back.

Anyway, here's a ZAM article on EQN:landmark - http://www.zam.com/story.html?story=33455
Tl;dr: it'll be a game creation tool, everything from terrain and buildings to quests and raids and even NPC's if the article is to be believed.

Clases look fairly standard: http://www.polygon.com/2013/11/27/5151142/everquest-nexts-first-four-classes-are-all-about-magic-and-melee

And an article on lore that looks interesting but I haven't read yet: http://www.warcry.com/news/view/130147-EverQuest-Next-Lore-Aims-to-Balance-Exposition-and-Action

Y'know, WoW is the only game I've ever willingly leveled a Necromancer. I normally hate the concept.

The Monstrosity makes it sound quite similar in concept to warlocks in WoW.

I'm looking forward to Landmark though, especially if it's really going to be used as a sort of crowdsourced game designing.
#2576 Dec 02 2013 at 7:50 PM Rating: Good
A staggered release was actually how they handled Dota 2, more or less. After release there was a queue to join, and they let people in by first come, first serve basis as they added more and more servers. They were trying to avoid the "launch day, servers melt" problem.
